KUNDALINI YOGA

Kundalini Yoga is an uplifting and dynamic form of yoga that awakens you to your greatest potential. This yoga style incorporates a set of postures called Kriya, a specific set of exercises for a specific effect on the body and mind. It offers powerful breathing techniques, relaxation with gong, meditation and sound vibration (mantra). The goal is to build physical vitality, defeat stress, and increase consciousness. The body movement will open the energy centres (chakras), relax the nervous system, normalize the brain chemistry, and strengthen the organs. The end result of every class creates an open flow of energy in the body, gain control of the mind, and clear out all your stress.

This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

INTRODUCTION TO YOGA

Learn the basics of yoga postures, proper body alignment, breathing techniques and relaxation. Helen will guide you step by step to give you knowledge and confidence that you need to succeed. The benefits of learning these ancient techniques will give you more flexibility, strength, body tone, balance, focus, concentration and relaxation of both body and mind.

This class is suitable for all fitness levels. A Yoga Mat is required for this class.

ADVANCED POWER YOGA

This class is geared towards students that enjoy a physical and mindful challenge. This is a strenuous yoga, great for those interested in picking up the heat and building strength, flexibility and balance.

This class is for students with yoga experience. A yoga mat is required for this class.

THERAPEUTIC YOGA-RESTORING FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT

Therapeutic yoga gives us the opportunity to improve function by developing an awareness of how our bodies move, when we understand how our bodies are designed to move, we are able to move in a more functional way improving posture while decreasing tension, pain and fatigue in our bodies. This class combines the art of traditional hatha yoga postures, breath awareness and meditation with modern scientific understanding of kinesiology, anatomy and physiology. Thus creating a balanced and mindful approach to health and healing that enables you to develop awareness, and a sense of ease while developing strength, stability and mobility. THIS CLASS HAS A MAXIMUM OF 8 STUDENTS. NO DROP INS FOR THIS CLASS, YOU MUST REGISTER.

HATHA FLOW YOGA

Instructor:Karen Faulkner

In this class, classical Hatha yoga postures are explored and then linked together with flowing breath to lengthen and strengthen the muscles and stimulate all of the organs and glands in the body. Pranayama (breath practices) and meditation techniques will also be incorporated to promote deep relaxation and begin to understand the subtle energy that flows within the physical body. No yoga experience is necessary and this class is suitable to all levels of students

This class will help students to release tension while building strength and flexibility to improve posture thereby reducing pain and strain commonly associated with long hours behind a desk and computer.
